Soon after you arrive in Sri Lanka, an Aviora Travels representative will warmly welcome you at the airport. Your journey begins in Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka.

On the way, enjoy a Colombo city tour, where you will see famous landmarks such as Galle Face Green, the Old Parliament, the Lighthouse Clock Tower, Colombo Harbour, Gangaramaya Temple, Independence Square, and Viharamahadevi Park.

You will also have time to explore Fort and Pettah, popular areas for shopping. These streets are filled with small shops, so enjoy browsing and bargain for the best prices.

After the tour, you will check in to your hotel.

Start your day with an early breakfast and travel to Minneriya National Park for an exciting jeep safari arranged by us. Along the way, enjoy the changing landscapes, from lush greenery and small lakes to open plains and village scenery. Keep your camera ready to capture the beautiful views of nature and wildlife.

Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before heading into the park for your safari adventure. Located in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Minneriya National Park is famous for its rich wildlife and scenic surroundings. The highlight of the park is the Minneriya Reservoir, where you may witness the spectacular elephant gathering, one of the most remarkable wildlife experiences in Sri Lanka.

The park is home to many species of mammals, birds, and reptiles, including several species endemic to the island. After an unforgettable 3-hour safari, proceed to Habarana and check in to your hotel.

Your day begins early with a visit to Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmark, Sigiriya Rock Fortress, arranged by Aviora Travels. Rising majestically above the surrounding plains, the famous “Lion Rock” is a remarkable archaeological site dating back to the 5th century AD. This ancient citadel showcases impressive city planning, water gardens, advanced irrigation systems, and ingenious engineering.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya is home to world-renowned frescoes and the fascinating Mirror Wall. As you climb to the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of lush gardens and the surrounding countryside. After descending the rock fortress, enjoy your breakfast in a peaceful, shaded spot.

Thereafter, continue your journey towards the hill capital, Kandy.
Later in the day, experience authentic village life with a Habarana village trek. This unique excursion includes a traditional bullock cart ride, a gentle nature walk, a short stream crossing, and a scenic boat ride in an “oruwa” (traditional canoe). You will also have the opportunity to interact with a local farmer and learn about traditional cultivation methods.

Your village experience concludes with a delicious home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch, prepared by the farmer’s family using fresh ingredients and traditional clay pots over firewood. After this enriching cultural experience, return to your hotel in Habarana to relax and unwind.

After breakfast, set out with Aviora Travels to explore the famous Dambulla Cave Temple, the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Towering above the surrounding plains, this remarkable site features over 80 caves, with beautifully preserved Buddha statues and ancient wall paintings depicting the life of Gautama Buddha. Dating back to the 2nd century BC, Dambulla is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the island’s most important cultural landmarks. After your visit, continue your journey towards Kandy.

En route, stop at a spice garden in Matale for lunch. Here, you will be introduced to a variety of Sri Lankan spices and herbs and learn how they are grown and used in traditional cooking and Ayurveda.

Located just a short distance from Kandy, the Matale spice gardens are among the best places to discover why Sri Lanka has long been known as the “Island of Spices,” both in the past and today.
In the evening, enjoy a vibrant cultural dance show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dances, colourful costumes, rhythmic drumming, and captivating performances — a wonderful way to experience the island’s rich cultural heritage.

After breakfast, enjoy a Kandy city tour with Aviora Travels, starting with a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the city’s most important cultural and spiritual landmark. This revered temple houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha and is a symbol of Sri Lanka’s heritage and sovereignty. (If you visit in August

Thereafter, enjoy a relaxing drive around the picturesque Kandy Lake, taking in the serene surroundings and natural beauty.

Enjoy an early lunch at your hotel before transferring to Kandy Railway Station to board one of Sri Lanka’s most scenic train journeys to Nanu Oya (subject to availability).
The train ride through the hill country is a truly unforgettable experience, offering breathtaking views of mist-covered mountains, rolling tea plantations, cascading waterfalls, forested valleys, and charming hill-country villages.

Upon arrival at Nanu Oya, your chauffeur-guide will meet you and transfer you to a Tea Factory in Nuwara Eliya for a guided tour, where you will learn about the fascinating process of Ceylon tea production from leaf to cup.

In the evening, enjoy a Nuwara Eliya city tour, including a visit to the beautiful Gregory Lake. Known as “Little England,” Nuwara Eliya is famous for its cool climate, colonial-era architecture, well-kept gardens, and tea plantations. Take time to soak in the charming atmosphere and scenic surroundings.

After breakfast, you will proceed to Bentota – a
resort town on Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast. Its long white sandy beaches and pristine waters with coral-rich dive sites make it an attractive destination for a beach getaway and to unwind by the beachfront.

En-route to Bentota visit Devon Falls and St.Clair’s falls. Devon Falls also known as the ‘Veil of the valley’, is one of the most beautiful cascades of Sri Lanka located close to the Talawakelle town. It is named after a pioneer English coffee planter called Devon, whose plantation was close by to the waterfall. St.Clair’s falls is one of the widest falls in the country and is commonly known as the ‘Little Niagra of Sri Lanka’. These waterfalls are a striking sight to see and do not forget to capture as many pictures you can.

Lunch Stop at Kithulgala – Optional engage in White Water Rafting activities – Experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River, covering 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. This activity is for anyone above the age of 10 years with safety gear, modern rafts, and a comprehensive safety briefing will be given by our white water rafting instructors beforehand. The distance covered is around 5 KMs. The river and its surrounding will make you feel enchanted, with a memorable Experience during your White Water Rafting Tour in Kitulgala.

On the way, you will also visit the Bo tree and temple in Kalutara. The ‘Kalutara Bodhiya’ is an ancient Bo tree which was identified as one of the 32 saplings of the original Sri Maha Bodhi planted during the 2nd century BC in Anuradhapura. It remains a very important historical site to this day. After learning more about the history behind the temple, you will reach your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Bentota.
